RUTH FRANÇOIS
As a worship leader in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, 24-year-old Ruth Francois has seen the power of music reach and transform many people in her city and beyond. Fluent in both Haitian Creole and English, she has written many songs for the church in both languages. She's excited to start to share these songs with the world in her first EP.
“I started singing at the age of four and it has been my passion ever since,” says Ruth. “As I have gone through my share of hard times in life, singing is where I always find solace.”
When Ruth sings, it is clear to see her true heart of worship. “I believe worship is a good way to reach out to people, especially my brothers and sisters in Haiti. Worship tends to fill in the voids and connect us to our Maker. When the words we sing take us to our knees, then our hearts will be ready to understand the Gospel. It will also prepare our hearts for the Holy Spirit to move.” In addition to writing songs for her upcoming album, Ruth continues to lead worship at Rendez-Vous Church and Haiti Teen Challenge and is in the process of completing her GED.
“I'm excited to work with Matchlight Records and experience this new adventure. I can't wait to meet new people and learn from them. But most importantly, I want to see what God has in store for me with my music. My dream is for my songs to reach many around the world so they may know who God is and run to Him. And I hope to embark on this journey as far as He wants to take me. God told me to use my talent to serve and honor Him, to let His light shine so that others may see His glory, and I want to do just that through my singing.”
